"Two years ago there was no Amaraa. There was a kitchen, an idea, and a lot of uncertainty. This is where that journey has brought us — and this is what comes next."
This is the sixth and final part of the Amaraa founder story series. If you have been reading from the beginning — thank you. This series has been the most honest thing I have written publicly about building this brand. I started with the moment the idea began, moved through the failures and the first sale and the marketing struggles and the moment I almost stopped. This final part is the one I have most enjoyed writing — because it is about what survived all of that.
What Amaraa Is Today
Amaraa Fragrances today is a homegrown luxury fragrance and personal care brand shipping to customers across India. We make scented candles, aroma melts, wardrobe fresheners, cold process soaps, and body washes. Every product in our range has been tested extensively — not just for quality, but for the experience it creates. Does it smell beautiful? Does it perform? Does it make someone feel something when they use it?
Our aroma melts are the product I am proudest of — long-lasting, beautifully fragranced, made from premium wax. They are the product that started it all and they are still the one our customers come back for most often. When I smell them I still think about every failed batch that came before them. I think that is a healthy thing to remember.
What We Have Learned About Our Customers
Two years of building Amaraa has taught me a great deal about the people who buy from us. They are thoughtful people. They are people who care about their homes not just as spaces but as environments — places that should feel a certain way, smell a certain way, make them feel something when they walk in. They are people who buy Amaraa not because it is the cheapest option but because they believe quality matters and experience matters.
They are also, very often, people who buy Amaraa as a gift. For their mother, their sister, their best friend, their colleague who just moved into a new home. This tells me something important — Amaraa is not just a product. It is a thing people want to share. That is the best thing a brand can be.
What Is Coming Next
We are expanding the Amaraa range thoughtfully — not quickly. New fragrances for our aroma melts that we have been testing for months. New additions to our body care line. A gifting collection designed specifically for occasions — birthdays, housewarmings, festive seasons — where the packaging and the product together tell a complete story.
We are also investing in the Amaraa community — the people who follow this brand, who share their purchases, who send messages about how the products made them feel. This community is the most valuable thing Amaraa has. More valuable than any ad campaign or any piece of marketing. Real people who love what we make and tell other people about it — that is the foundation everything else is built on.
What I Want For Amaraa
I want Amaraa to be a brand that people trust completely. Not just to deliver a good product — but to stand for something. To stand for the idea that your home deserves to smell beautiful. That luxury does not have to mean foreign or expensive or inaccessible. That a homegrown Indian brand can make something as good as anything imported — and make it with more care, more intention, and more love for the person receiving it.
I want the person who lights an Amaraa candle or melts an Amaraa cube to feel something. Not just smell something. Feel something. That their home is a place worth caring about. That they are worth the small ritual of lighting a burner at the end of a long day. That the space they live in can feel beautiful even on an ordinary Tuesday.
That is what I am building. That is what all of it — the failed batches, the lost ad spend, the Tuesday evening when I almost stopped — was for. I think it is worth it. I am more certain of that today than I have ever been.
"Amaraa is two years old and I feel like we are just beginning. Everything so far has been foundation. What we build on it — that is what I am excited for."
— Amita Gothi, Founder, Amaraa Fragrances
Thank You For Reading This Series
If you have read all six parts of this series — thank you genuinely. Writing it has made me remember things I had almost forgotten about why I started and what has kept me going. I hope it has been useful, or honest, or at least interesting. I hope it has made Amaraa feel a little more real to you — because it is real, made by a real person, with a real story behind every product.
If you have never tried Amaraa — I would love for you to. Not because I need a sale, but because I genuinely believe in what we make and I think you might love it too.
